-- Thursday, June 26 -- COMMUNITY PIT BULL EDUCATION WORKSHOP. PARL will host an evening workshop on responsible Pit Bull ownership at Dogz Downtown, 1218 Eddy St., Providence, RI, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. "Out of the Pits & Into our Hearts" will be led by behaviorist/trainer Melissa Iacavone and present useful information for current and potential Pit Bull owners. This workshop will also cover obedience training for Pit Bulls, breed history, myths and realities, a behavioral and body language profile, and tips on Pit Bull adoption. Iacavone will be available to answer questions and provide additional resources for Pit Bull owners, their friends and neighbors, and those considering a Pit Bull for their home. A $5.00 per person donation is suggested but not required. Donations benefit further Pit Bull Education programs at The PARL. -- Saturday, September 13 -- Join us for the 20th Annual Pet Walk Rhode Island fundraiser at Roger Williams Park's Temple To Music. Pet Walk benefits our ongoing efforts to rescue and rehome homeless animals across New England! Pet Walk features a fun walk for you and your dog through Roger Williams Park. In addition, you can: shop & visit with exhibitors, see obedience demonstrations, try your luck with our raffle, play pet games, and learn about pet care. This year, PARL is partnering with the Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association to launch their first annual Walk and Wag pet health program.
