On behalf of the Providence Animal Rescue League, we'd like to thank everyone who came out to support our signature fundraising event, The Rescue! It was such an amazing evening. We're thankful for the generosity of our community members and will be posting totals soon! We also can't wait to see the pics from our friends at RI Local and The Animal Print Magazine. Thanks again from our staff, board of directors and of course...the animals!

It's time to "eat, drink and bid your tails off" at the Providence Animal Rescue League's signature fundraising event, "The Rescue!" It will be held on Saturday, April 18th at the Pawtucket Armory located at 172 Exchange Street in Pawtucket, RI.

In its 8th year, The Rescue boasts an evening of swanky spirits, fabulous food and spectacular auctions. There will be a private VIP reception hosted by Millonzi's Fine Catering, Bottles and Party By Design starting at 6:00 PM with the Main Event beginning at 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM. Guests will have the opportunity to sample delicious “tasty bites” from a variety of Rhode Island's top restaurants and catering companies as they compete to be "Top Dog" of the evening!

    Let The Judging Begin!

    Each competitor is judged on their dish by a local celebrity judge for their chance to win the title of Top Dog, but YOU will be voting to give someone the title of Howlin’ Crowd Pleaser! This year we have added competition categories! New to 2015, each competitor is given the option to create TWO dishes, one vegetarian and one carnivore. Each guest will receive two voting “paw prints” when arriving, once you have tasted each competitors dish, you can decide your favorite vegetarian and/or carnivore dish and vote by placing your paw print in the voting vases on their table!

    Top Dog Culinary Competition Judges!

    Al Matthews

    Since 1990, Southern New England has woken up with Al, the foodie half of the successful Paul & Al radio show at rock station 94HJY in Providence. URI Master Gardener, home cook, world traveler, father, and serious sipper of creative cocktails, Al's off-air life is all about food for family and friends, from curing and smoking his own bacon to making his own honey liqueur. He blogs about it at: Al is one of our judges for this event, and you can bet he’ll be going back for seconds!

    Logan Ryan

    Now in his 3rd season with the New England Patriots, Super Bowl Champion Cornerback Logan Ryan has certainly made an impact. In his rookie year he lead the AFC and all rookies in interceptions. With a big appetite off the field, he spends his free time in the kitchen or local restaurants, appreciating the art of comfort food. The bigger, the better! As a “Chopped” fanatic, Logan looks forward to spending another year as our culinary competition judges!

    Brendan Kirby

    Brendan is currently in his second year as co-host of The Rhode Show. He joined the team in January of 2014 after winning WPRI-TV’s 2013 “Search For A Star” competition. Prior to this, he hosted his own RI based late night comedy/talk show, Wicked Late with Brendan Kirby. He is a former intern for CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman and a graduate of Rhode Island College. Brendan can’t wait to judge this competition and looks forward to accepting cash bribes from the competitors as well as challenging Logan Ryan to an arm wrestling match at some point during the evening.
