Love Is Adoptable at PARL

Adoption Process

PARL seeks to create a welcoming and barrier-free adoption process that is entirely conversation-based. We believe in building and strengthening the human-companion animal bond and through conversation, we seek to find the best match for both adopter and animal. Through this process, we build trusting relationships with adopters, encouraging them to communicate openly and honestly with us if they should need our advice or assistance.

interested in adopting a dog, cat, or small animal? we can help!

  • Photos and bios for all available animals are posted on our website. Follow the links below to see available dogs, cats, and small animals.
  • If you see an animal you'd like to adopt, please complete an Adopter Profile online. This ensures your information is in our system and makes it much easier to introduce you to possible adoption matches when you stop by for a visit.
  • Our shelter is generally open for walk-in visitors Wednesday-Sunday from 12pm-4pm.
  • Come visit us during our open hours and meet our animals. Adoptions can usually be completed in the same day and we look forward to introducing you to your new family member!
  • FOSTER TO ADOPT: Some animals may be listed as looking for a 'Foster to Adopt' situation. This means that animals can go home with the prospective adopters, but the animal remains under PARL's 'ownership'. This is usually because the animal needs further veterinary care or their spay/neuter surgery before the adoption can be finalized. Foster to Adopt placement requires the prospective future adopter serve as a foster for the animal for a pre-arranged set of time and thus must adhere to PARL's foster policies and procedures until the adoption is finalized.
  • Some animals in our care require more conversation and pre-arranged meeting dates if the animal is in foster care. If that is the case, there will be specific instructions in the animal's bio about how to inquire about the animal and/or set up a time to meet them.
