Find A Pet

The Adoption Process

PARL seeks to create a welcoming and barrier-free adoption process that is entirely conversation-based. We believe in building and strengthening the human-companion animal bond and through conversation, we seek to find the best match for both adopter and animal. Through this process, we build trusting relationships with adopters, encouraging them to communicate openly and honestly with us if they should need our advice or assistance.

If you see an animal you'd like to meet and potentially adopt, please plan to visit our shelter during our open adoption hours and complete an Adopter Profile online before visiting. The Adopter Profile asks for basic information and helps us match you with small animals whenever you visit.

interested in adopting a dog, cat, or small animal? we can help!

  • Photos and bios for all available animals are posted on our website. Follow the links below to see available dogs, cats, and small animals.
  • If you see an animal you'd like to adopt, please complete an Adopter Profile online. This ensures your information is in our system and makes it much easier to introduce you to possible adoption matches when you stop by for a visit.
  • Our shelter is generally open for walk-in visitors Wednesday-Sunday from 12pm-4pm.
  • Come visit us during our open hours and meet our animals. Adoptions can usually be completed in the same day and we look forward to introducing you to your new family member!
  • Please note that masks are required for all visitors, regardless of vaccination status. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

EFFECTIVE JULY 27, 2022: We have all felt the impact of national supply shortages and rising costs associated with food, medicine, energy, transportation, and labor. As a result, our adoption fees will be increasing, effective July 27, 2022. We strive to find the balance between ensuring that pet adoption is affordable for all, finding loving homes for animals, and recovering a portion of the cost for shelter, care, and treatment that our organization spends per animal. We are committed to revisiting our adoption fees on a regular basis and will make adjustments as we are able to do so. Please note that adoption fees for select animals or animal types may be reduced at any time due to the animal's needs and length of stay with our organization. Notice of reduced adoption fee will appear in the individual animal's bio. Thank you for your understanding during these challenging times.
