What is PARL?
The Providence Animal Rescue League (PARL) is a 109-year-old 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Providence, RI. PARL's mission is to provide for the rescue and relief of suffering and homeless animals and to perform charitable or benevolent acts for the welfare of animals. You can learn more about PARL here.
A Call for Board Members 👋
PARL's Board of Trustees is comprised of volunteers from the community. We are looking for board members who:
- Are passionate about animal welfare and our mission
- Can give some combination of time, talent, and treasure
- Can give the organization professional advice and counsel in one or more areas
- Can exercise oversight and fiduciary responsibility
Board members must be able to join our 10 board meetings per year, which are typically held on the third Thursday of the month from 5:30 - 7:30 PM. Meetings have been held remotely during Covid-19 and will continue to have a remote option when our meetings return to the shelter.
Although all are welcome to apply, we are currently especially interested in candidates with experience in finance, HR, human services, community organizing, nonprofit fundraising, or as a Veterinarian.
Board Committees
Most Trustees belong to one or more Board committee(s), which typically meet for an hour in between board meetings, organized around members' schedules.
Our committees currently include:
- Marketing, Communication, & Development (MCD) Committee
- Finance & Administration Committee
- Animal Welfare Committee
- Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging (DEIB) Committee
Committee-only Membership: we also welcome interest from those who would like like to join a board committee without joining the full board as a Trustee. This can be a great option for those who can't take on the commitment of full board membership or would like to start with a smaller commitment as they get to know us and our work.
Next Steps
If you're interested in learning more, please fill out the form on this page. We will be reaching out this summer and early fall with more information about PARL and these opportunities, including the application process and deadlines.
